School Update 9th November
Dear Parent
Happy November! We hope this communication finds you well and safe during the current restrictions.
As ever, hard work around the clock is ongoing at Abbot’s Way, in preparation for opening.
Planning Application
Our ‘change of use’ planning application is finally nearing its conclusion and we’ve had very recent, positive feedback to indicate it will be imminently passed - fingers are firmly crossed! We will update you on the outcome when we are able to.
Preparation for Ofsted pre inspection
We remain in constant ongoing communication with Ofsted, the DfE and the ISA (Independent Schools’ Association). As ever, we are focused on ensuring that we are as prepared and confident as we can be in being judged as ‘likely to meet independent school standards’. We have experience of inspection against these and are familiar with the content, which stands us in good stead. The pressure is to ensure that our evidence base is strong.
Local Authority (LA) relations
We are committed to building a positive and long lasting relationship with all LA’s with whom we work closely.
A proactive approach and supportive feedback has been received from surrounding LA’s and we have a conference call booked this week with Somerset. We will discuss our current position and the provision that we are very proud to offer for children within our county.
Kara Tointon
We're proud to have Kara as our patron and her support / advocacy is greatly appreciated. She is currently working with us on promotional material for Abbot’s Way.
We are in contact with other advocates who share Kara’s passion, watch this space.
Learning Centre
Our part time provision remains thriving and very nearly full, with students learning to love learning and rising daily in self esteem and belief. We are proud to witness our unique, themed approach to education already proving to provide such an impact. Students are gaining from our bespoke curriculum underpinned by defined skill sets.
Admin / Reception Space
Our new admin / reception space should be completed within the next week. It will provide a smart, well placed and welcoming greeting area, admin work area and adjacent meeting room.
Staff Team
Our team awaits opening with excitement and commitment. They are busy planning for registration and for our weekly learning centre sessions. We have a growing team 100% behind Abbot’s Way and we have more recruitment news coming up! Our Governance team continue to provide support behind the scenes and work closely with us on development.
Student admissions
Enquiries and conversions to registrations are healthy. We have an admissions process which we continue to follow in order to ensure the school can meet needs and most importantly the child feels happy, safe, secure and able to thrive in our provision. We are excited to receive many referrals through professionals and word of mouth.
Finally
Ongoing discussion with potential investors remains very exciting. We have also received communication from Made By Dyslexia. As a recognised organisation, we recommend parents checking out their latest campaign in order to raise awareness for learning differences. Click here to see the Made By Dyslexia campaign
As ever, we endeavour to keep you posted on all developments as and when they happen and please contact us should you have any questions or require any support or guidance.
Warmest regards and thanks for your support
Hellen and Gareth
