School Update 5th September
Dear Parent
We hope you are all well and this pre-term update finds you enjoying the start of the annual September heatwave, as the team look forward to welcoming everyone back to Abbot’s Way for the Autumn term.
INSET
The entire AW team reunited last week, refreshed, enthused and raring to go!
Completing the standardised compliance training, we benefitted too from specialist sessions including that of our associate Prof Sean MacBlain.
We have been busy preparing classrooms, curriculum and the term ahead for our students.

Staffing
Lorna MacCormac is raring to take on Lead for English & Literacy, with years of specialist experience she can’t wait to get stuck in. The Library has been upgraded and new supportive resources purchased.
We will be recruiting for a second OT imminently as Karen’s caseload is currently full and both Lianne and Sara will be increasing their SaLT hours - a positive impact of growing student numbers.
Sarah expands her role across The Arts as an entire, cohesive curriculum area. Her collaborative and creative approach lends itself to a themed and interwoven faculty.
Sue now takes on a full time roll in the office, as PA to Gareth and Hellen, and School Secretary. This increase in hours will be hugely supportive and her calm, positive presence will be welcomed!
Planning
As per our recent updates, following Ofsted recommendations, we are pleased to be in a position to reapply for additional premises which will only add to our unique provision.
We are also edging ever closer to our full planning which following more positive feedback from consultes will be submitted within the next 2 weeks. Although timely, this is now very exciting.
Governance
Following our most recent Governance meeting we look forward to welcoming the chair of Governors David Pugh to Abbot’s Way this week. There is much development planning ahead to take place including the nomination of a Parent Governor to add to our team. We will, of course, keep you posted.
Once again, we all look forward to welcoming our students back tomorrow and as ever, please do get in touch should you have any questions or wish to catch up.
